Is your teen overwhelmed with life’s challenges?
Does your teen seem sad, angry, upset, anxious, or depressed?
Have they been isolating themselves from others?
Is your teen grieving the loss of a loved one, friend, relationship, or pet?
Has your teen experienced a traumatic event and is now acting differently?
What’s going on with my teen?
The teen years can be a trying time for some. During this time, life’s challenges and transitioning into adulthood can be overwhelming. The brain is still developing, there are some hormonal changes, and your teen is trying to figure out who they are. It may not seem like it but teens have a lot on their plate. They are dealing with the pressure of fitting in with their peers, pressure to do well in school, sports, and doing what’s expected of them in the home. Many teens feel misunderstood and that no one listens to them. Many feel like no one, even you, gets them or could possibly even understand what being a teen is like even though you were once their age. Teens act out their emotions in different ways. Some may isolate themselves from others and would rather be sad alone. Some may choose to skip school or class to keep from dealing with a bully or pressure from peers. Some have experienced betrayal or abuse at the hands of a trusted individual and are now acting out their anger. Some are feeling insecure and lack a healthy self-esteem or self-confidence.
